The Columbia Place Hotel and Apartments are 2 twelve story new construction 12-story buildings as well as the restoration of 8 historic buildings. The historic buildings, located across the street from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., were integrated into the design of the new buildings as apartments, retail, a restaurant, and meeting spaces. UBG worked on site from May 2016 through February 2019. In addition to the split face CMU and brick on new structures, UBG performed brick masonry and stone cleaning, repointing, repair, and replacement on the exterior and interior of all 8 historic buildings. UBG also demolished, salvaged, and reinstalled multiple party walls between the historic buildings. Other scope of work that UBG coordinated on the project included air and vapor barrier and gunite installation for stabilization of the facades of most of the historic buildings.
